Room 133: Cabin Still
Moonshining was a way of living for many folks during the prohibition era. Most of the men who made moonshine did so to help raise their families when times were hard. With a little copper tubing, a copper boiling tank and holding barrels, a moonshiner could change corn into (distilled) corned whiskey. A replica of an old-fashioned still in the bath, and a facsimile of a copper boiling tank (wood was used to heat the boiler) are fun conversation pieces in the room. Hidden amid the rocks in the hilltop unit, the Cabin Still has rock floors, rock shower & basin and a king bed.

Room 135: Swiss Rock
During the construction of the Madonna Inn, the old Alpine herdsman game of “Stone-throwing” or “Steinstossen” was rediscovered. Competitors would lift a stone above their heads before hurling it, being careful not to step over a line. Alex Madonna was Swiss, and his love for rocks is evident throughout the Inn. Stones gathered from the surrounding farmland were carefully positioned (not hurled) to create this unique setting. The rich, vibrant colors of the room are enhanced by the rock floors and distinctive furnishings. This room has a king bed and, you guessed it, a “rock” shower!
